📘 Learn Hangul Online #4: Master the Batchim
Batchim simplifies to just 7 base sounds. Add the liaison rule, and real-world Korean signs will finally start to click.
Struggling with final consonants? Don't worry. We’ll map each final shape to a base sound (k·n·t·l·m·p·ng), apply the carry-over rule, and you'll be reading real words in minutes.
받침을 7개 기본 소리로 연결하고, 모음으로 시작하면 연음되는 규칙을 적용해 실전 단어를 읽어봅니다.
1. Batchim Basics: The 7 Base Sounds
2. Liaison (연음): The Carry-Over Rule
When the next block starts with a vowel (initial ㅇ), the final consonant "jumps" into that spot:
- 밥 + 이 → sounds like 바비 (ba-bi)
- 옷 + 이 → sounds like 오시 (o-si)
- 강 + 에 → sounds like 가응에 (ga-ŋe)
👩🏫 Teacher Hoon's Expert Tip
Don't overthink double finals (like 읽, 앉) yet. Master these 7 base sounds first. Once you can read 밥(Bap) and 옷(Ot) naturally, the advanced rules will feel much easier.
마지막 글자를 손으로 짚고 기본 소리(k·n·t·l·m·p·ng)를 먼저 말한 뒤 전체 단어를 읽어보세요.
