Expressing Likes and Dislikes in Korean

In Korean, talking about what you like (좋아하다) and dislike (싫어하다) is essential for everyday conversation. Whether you're chatting with friends, ordering food, or discussing hobbies, these expressions come up all the time!

🟢 Basic Structure: 좋아하다 / 싫어하다

Korean Meaning Usage
좋아하다 to like noun + 을/를 + 좋아해요
싫어하다 to dislike noun + 을/를 + 싫어해요

Examples:
저는 커피를 좋아해요. → I like coffee.
저는 야채를 싫어해요. → I dislike vegetables.

🟠 Talking About Hobbies or Activities

Korean English
저는 영화 보는 것을 좋아해요. I like watching movies.
저는 운동하는 걸 싫어해요. I don’t like exercising.

💡 In Korean, verbs become nouns by adding -는 것 (doing something).

🔵 좋아해요 vs. 좋아요

표현 의미 예시
좋아해요 “I like [something]” (action/feeling) 저는 김치를 좋아해요.
좋아요 “It’s good” (state/condition) 이 노래 좋아요!

Tip: "좋아요" can be used by itself, like “That’s nice!”
