⏳ TOPIK Starter Series #9: The 90-Day Study Plan (Busy-Adult Edition)

TOPIK 90-day plan, Atomic Habits for language learning, habit stacking, two-minute rule, Korean exam preparation

⏳ TOPIK Starter Series — Part 9: The 90-Day Study Plan (Busy-Adult Edition)

What if 45–60 minutes on weekdays + 1 weekend mock were enough to reach your next TOPIK level?

This plan installs a simple system you can keep—no burnout, clear milestones, and visible score gains.

바쁜 직장인도 가능한 평일 45–60분 + 주말 모의 1회 플랜입니다.

번아웃 없이 단계별 목표측정 가능한 성과를 만드세요.

Who is this for? First-time test takers and returnees aiming for TOPIK I (1–2) or TOPIK II (3–6) within ~3 months.

처음 준비하는 분, 다시 도전하는 분 모두 활용 가능합니다.

The 3 Phases (Build → Bridge → Perform)

Day 30 — First full mock Day 60 — Gap-fix mock Day 80 — Exam-pace mock Day 85–89 — Light review only

Phase 1 — Build (Days 1–30)

  • Listening: daily shadowing 15 min + 2× dictation per week.
  • Reading: scan-first routine (title → first/last sentences → questions → targeted re-read).
  • Grammar/Vocab: 1 core text; 20 theme words/week with your own examples.
  • Writing (if TOPIK II): 5-min EN→KR warm-up (3 sentences; one connector).

핵심: 루틴 만들기. 매일 같은 시간·같은 자리에서 짧게, 꾸준히.

Phase 2 — Bridge (Days 31–60)

  • Weekly mock: full section (TOPIK I) / two sections (TOPIK II) with real timing.
  • Error tags: Grammar / Vocab / Inference / Timing / Careless → write one-line fix per tag.
  • Targeted drills: redo wrong types within 48 hours; change one behavior each week.

핵심: 측정과 수정. 점수보다 오답 원인에 집중하세요.

Phase 3 — Perform (Days 61–90)

  • Exam-pace: 2 timed mocks at Day 75–80, Day 82–84.
  • Writing (TOPIK II): 50-min set under time; template → clear structure → concise language.
  • Taper: last 5 days = light review only; sleep, hydration, brief warm-ups.

핵심: 속도·안정감. 새 자료보다 오답·템플릿을 다듬습니다.

Your Week at a Glance

Day Focus Blocks
Mon–Thu Listening / Reading / Grammar+Vocab 15 + 20 + 10–15 min
Fri Micro-drills Dictation / Speed scan / EN→KR 3 sentences
Sat or Sun Timed mock + Review Full section(s) + 30-min error tags

Choose Your Track

TOPIK I (1–2)

  • Daily life texts; focus on contrast markers, schedules, notices.
  • 3-sentence writing warm-ups (topic → detail → wrap-up).
  • Goal by Day 60: ≥ 70% on practice sets; stable pacing.

TOPIK II (3–6)

  • Add Writing template work (problem–solution / opinion outline).
  • Reading inference drills; time budget per item.
  • Goal by Day 60: comfortable 50-min writing set under time.

Error Tags → One-Line Fixes

Grammar / Vocab / Inference / Timing / Careless → write one rule you’ll change next week. 작은 규칙하나씩 바꾸면 누적 효과가 큽니다.

Teacher’s Tip s (Do This Now)

Plan Sunday night, not Monday morning

Schedule four weekday blocks and one weekend mock before the week starts. Put materials on your desk—reduce friction.

일요일 밤에 평일 4블록 + 주말 모의 1회를 먼저 달력에 넣고, 책과 이어폰을 책상에 미리 두세요. 마찰을 줄이는 게 핵심입니다.

Dictation + shadowing make Listening click

Use 10 minutes: pause, write what you hear, then shadow the same lines. Your ear adapts to Korean rhythm and speed quickly.

10분만 투자하세요: 멈추고 받아쓰기 → 같은 문장 따라 말하기. 한국어의 리듬과 속도에 빠르게 적응합니다.

One connector, cleaner writing

Limit yourself to one connector (그리고/하지만/그래서) per 3-sentence warm-up. Clarity beats complexity.

3문장 워밍업에서는 연결어 하나만 사용하세요. 복잡함보다 명료함이 점수를 올립니다.

Use tags to turn mistakes into tasks

Tag the cause and write one behavior you’ll change next week. Review tags every Saturday.

오답의 원인을 태그로 기록하고, 다음 주에 바꿀 행동 1개를 적으세요. 매주 토요일 태그를 검토하세요.

Systems beat motivation

Keep the same time and place. Let the calendar enforce discipline; you just show up.

매일 같은 시간·같은 자리에서 시작하세요. 일정이 규칙을 만들고, 우리는 출석만 하면 됩니다.

Make It Stick (Atomic Habits Toolkit)

Implementation Intention: time + place + action

“I will [study action] at [time] in [place].” Example: “I will do a 15-min listening drill at 7:30 a.m. at my desk.”

형식: “나는 [행동][시간][장소]에서 한다.” 예: “매일 오전 7:30 책상에서 15분 듣기 연습.”

Habit Stacking: after X, I will Y

“After I [current habit], I will [new study habit].” Example: After making coffee, do EN→KR 3 sentences.

[현재 습관] 후에, [새 학습 습관]을 한다.” 예: 커피 만든 뒤 EN→KR 3문장.

Two-Minute Rule: make the start tiny

When you start a habit, it should take less than two minutes. Open past paper → answer 2 items → momentum carries you.

새 습관의 시작은 2분 이하가 좋습니다. 기출 열기 → 2문제만 풀기 → 관성이 나머지를 돕습니다.

Environment Design: obvious, easy, friction-free

Pre-open your mock PDF, put earbuds on your desk, move your phone to another room. Make the good path the easy path.

모의고사 PDF를 미리 열고, 이어폰은 책상 위에, 휴대폰은 다른 방에 두세요. 좋은 경로쉬운 경로로 만드세요.

Identity First: become “a daily Korean learner”

Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become.” — James Clear, Atomic Habits

“매일 하는 작은 행동들이 내가 되고 싶은 사람에게 표를 던집니다.” 정체성을 먼저 정하고 그에 맞게 행동하세요.

Systems > Goals

You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.” — James Clear

목표보다 시스템이 결과를 좌우합니다. 같은 시간·같은 자리·같은 절차를 고정하세요.

Compounding: small wins, big impact

“Habits are the compound interest of self-improvement.” — James Clear

작은 습관의 복리 효과가 누적되며 성장합니다. 매일 1% 개선을 목표로 하세요.

Research note: It’s not “21 days.” One real-world study found habit formation ranged from 18 to 254 days (average ≈ 66 days), depending on task complexity and consistency. Start tiny, repeat often.

연구에 따르면 새로운 습관이 루틴이 되기 까지 평균 약 66일(범위 18–254일) 걸린다고 합니다. 학습 습관이 좋은 루틴이 될 때까지 작게 시작하고 자주 반복하세요.

중간에 멈춰도 됩니다. 거기서 부터 다시 시작하면 됩니다.
